| A number of commando units were formed the British Military in World War II. These units were intended to be relatively small, fast moving and able to carry out specific attacks against enemy targets. Units were raised from the British Army, Naval, and Royal Marines forces. By the end of the war, most of the units were retained by the Royal Marines alone. They were known for their heroism and bravery. |
