Candyman was once an ex-slave-turned-artist named Daniel Robitaille. He was caught having an affair with a client's daughter. The punishment was to have his hand cut off - no anesthetic - with a rusty saw, and then smothered in honey, whereupon a group of killer bees came out of nowhere and killed the poor sod. Robitaille did not go to heaven when he died, and now, when somebody says "Candyman" 5 times into a mirror, he appears with a big hook strapped onto his bloody stump.
