"The Confessor's Mantle is taken up again by Altar Boy" Jeremiah Parrish came to Astro City in 1869, a priest assisting in the building of the great Grandenetti Cathedral. But he fell victim to a vampire - and was reborn as one of the undead. Considering himself cursed and beyond redemption, he hid himself in the uncompleted cathedral for decades - until the emergence of superheroes gave him the idea to atone for his fall, and to walk among the living once more.
