About Wildstorm Action Figures
When the formation of Image Comics was announced in 1992, the news rocked the comic book industry to its core and set off a chain reaction that continues to be felt to this day. Six of Marvel's most popular artists, Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Jim Valentino, Erik Larsen, Rob Liefeld, and Marc Silvestri left the world's biggest, most profitable comic book company to strike out on their own, taking on the risk of creating all new characters and publishing their own comic books. Image was also different from other companies in that each of the founding members created his own studio and produced his own comic books. This ensured that each creator could fully own and control his characters and determine their destinies. Jim Lee called his production company WildStorm Productions, after two of the core titles in his line, WildC.A.T.s: Covert Action Teams and StormWatch. In October 1998, WildStorm Productions was acquired by DC Comics. WildStorm continues to function as an imprint of DC, putting out its popular lines of comics with Jim Lee acting as Editorial Director. The combination of DC and WildStorm is the largest comic book publisher in the business.
