About Real Heroes Inc
Don Levine, a former Hasbro executive, (where he conceived and organized the manufacture and introduction of GIJOE) started Real Heroes Inc, inspired by those who assisted after the bombing of a federal building in Oklahoma City in Apri11995. A former Army platoon sergeant, Levine believed that people were identifying themselves more with community law enforcement than with the military, in a nation that hadn't fought in a world war in about half a century.

In August, 2000, Real Heroes, Inc. began to work directly with the Fire Department of New York to create the "official" action figure collectible of FDNY that would represent the men and women of this department and capture the spirit of their commitment to service. This unique action figure went on sale in January, 2001 at the Fire Zone, a retail store and fire safety education center located at 50 Rockefeller Plaza in the heart of Manhattan. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each figure benefits the New York Fire Safety and Education Fund. The fund supports FDNY public education and outreach programs designed to teach children, citizens, and firefighters themselves fire safety and ways to prevent fires.

Real Heroes July 2009 Sgt. First Class John Adams

PENSACOLA, Ala. - Sgt. First Class John Adams has a great job as an Army recruiter. But that's not the work that earned him a bonze star, and his own action figure.
Adams story is featured on the Army's website under Real Heros . He was stationed in Iraq in October 2004 when his convoy came across a suspicious vehicle. Adams got out to investigate. The encounter ended in gunfire.
'By no means I am I a superman or anything like that. I was out there doing my job. When I got out I noticed a man on the passenger side of the vehicle like he was working on a tire, but when I approached two men ran out with machine guns and opened fire on me. I eliminated one of them,' Adams said.
The patrol had interrupted the placement of three large IED's wired together. Adams later discovered his action may has saved a lot of lives.
'It was set to explode the next day which there was a convoy coming though with 200 vehicles which and supplies for the entire country,' Adams said.
Adams mom, Beth Whitecotton is proud of her son, but she's not surprised he didn't tell her about his heroic story. She didn't find out until the action figure was about to be released.
'The event happened on his grandpa's birthday, which really bothered me a lot,' Whitecotton said.
Now her son spends his days recruiting and signing the figures that could inspire the next generation of heros.

Adams says the army recently added a ninth soldier to it's list of real heros. It's the first woman.

Mattel July 2009 Launches Avatar figures - Industry's First Toy Line Featuring Augmented Reality Technology

Mattel, Inc. will preview at San Diego Comic-Con 2009 a new line of action figures based on Twentieth Century Fox’s upcoming epic action-adventure film, “Avatar,” that will incorporate augmented reality technology, marking the first time this technology will ever appear in a retail toy product. The toy line, developed in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising (Fox Licensing) will feature heroes, creatures and vehicles straight from James Cameron’s much-anticipated film, which is set for release in December 2009.
Each action figure, vehicle and creature in the product line will come with a 3-D web tag, called an i-TAG, which consumers can “scan” using a home computer’s webcam. Scanning the i-TAG will reveal special content onscreen unique to the corresponding product. Exact content varies for each item, but could include biographical information, additional images and animated models of the figures. When the i-TAG for deluxe figures, vehicles or creatures are placed under a webcam, animated 3-D models will “come alive” through engaging, evading or defending moves. Place two i-TAGs from the “Battle Pack” together and the 3-D images will interact with each other.

“The development of our ‘Avatar’ toy line with the integration of the augmented reality technology marks an entirely new level of innovation in toys,” said Doug Wadleigh, Vice President for Boys Action Play Marketing, Mattel, Inc. “Boys will be able to play with the ‘Avatar’ figures and vehicles in ways that previously could only be imagined.”
Lora Cohn, Vice President, Fox Licensing, added, “This is going to be a ground-breaking moment for both film and toy with the introduction of one of the most innovative 3-D experiences ever conceived. Mattel has created the perfect complement to a film that is going to wow audiences the world over with its bold new vision.”
The i-TAG technology was developed by Total Immersion, the global leader in augmented reality. Total Immersion’s patented augmented reality technology integrates real time interactive 3-D graphics into live video. Once the object is recognized by the webcam, the product comes to life on screen.
“Augmented reality is a software solution that has significantly gained momentum and popularity with advertisers, retailers and marketers over the past several years because of its unique ability to engage consumers in their experience with a brand,” said Bruno Uzzan, CEO and co-founder, Total Immersion. “The launch of Mattel’s ‘Avatar’ toy line is truly groundbreaking, as this marks the first time augmented reality has been featured in a mainstream consumer product line.”
The Mattel line of “Avatar” action figures, creatures and vehicles will be available at retail stores nationwide in October 2009.
About “Avatar”
The director of Titanic takes us to a spectacular new world beyond our imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption, discovery and unexpected love -- as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization in this epic action adventure fantasy. Conceived 14 years ago and over four years in the making, “Avatar” breaks new ground in delivering a fully immersive, emotional story and reinvents the movie going experience.
The “Avatar” cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver. Academy Award-winning visual effects house, WETA Digital, renowned for its work in “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy and “King Kong,” will incorporate new intuitive CGI technologies to transform the environments and characters into photor

Mattel's New Web-Enabled "Avatar" Toys Will Offer Augmented Reality
If you think augmented reality is just a bunch of hype with no usable applications as of yet, think again. Mattel July 2009 Avatyar toys: Total Immersion via 'Augmented Reality'

Mattel, Total Immersion Team Up for Augmented Reality Toy Line

6a00d83452b15969e200e54f3a48428834-800wi Augmented reality took a giant step toward the mainstream this week when toy maker Mattel announced that a new line of action figures based on the upcoming action sci-fi-film Avatar would incorporate augmented reality technology.
Each figure in the new line will come with a 3D web tag, or i-TAG, which consumers scan using a home computer's webcam. Scanning will reveal additional content on-screen such as biographical information or animated models which corresponds to the purchased product.

'The development of our Avatar toy line with the integration of the augmented reality technology marks an entirely new level of innovation in toys,' Doug Wadleigh, vice president of Mattel's Boys Action Play Marketing group said. 'Boys will be able to play with the Avatar figures and vehicles in ways that previously could only be imagined.'
Mattel introduced the new toy line at Comic-con, currently taking place in San Diego.
Adding a twist to the augmented reality-laden toy line are added capabilities when two action figures are placed in front of a user's webcam. In that case the screen images of both figurines will interact with each other, says Mattel.
Mattel is teaming with augmented reality specialists Total Immersion, a France-based company which earlier this year partnered with sports card publisher Topps to bring augmented reality to baseball trading cards. (See the Topps video demo below which accompanied that announcement.)
The move by Mattel can be interpreted in at least two ways. The augmented reality initiative corresponds with the company's aggressive approach to tapping new technologies -- its BarbieGirls.com virtual world, launched in 2007, now has 18 million registered users according to researchers KZero. It also reinforces the toy industry's love affair with movie tie-ins. Analysts say rival toymaker Hasbro stands to make $600 million this year on Transformer-based toys alone.
Can the James Cameron-directed Avatar deliver the same upside for Mattel? It won't be long before the answer becomes clear: Mattel's Avatar-based action figures, creatures and vehicles will be available at retail outlets nationwide this October, while the film, from Fox, debuts December 19.

Real Heroes July 2009 Army Sgt 1st Class John "Brandon" Adams

Army Sgt 1st Class John 'Brandon' Adams is a real-life American hero. And he even has his own action figure — and a Bronze Star with Valor — to prove it.
Adams, a 1994 Milton High graduate, is one of nine U.S. soldiers who make up the Army's 'Real Heroes' program, which highlights the accomplishments of the branch's best. Each of the nine has his or her own action figure, and Saturday at a party in his honor at the Sandshaker Lounge on Pensacola Beach, Adams gave away and autographed his own figure. It shows him in a standing firing position.
'When I was young, I used to play with G.I. Joes and go out in the woods and play war,' said Adams, 33, now a recruiter who lives in southern Indiana. 'And now I have my own action figure. It's crazy. And it's extremely humbling.'
Adams won his Bronze Star — and a part in the 'Real Heroes' program — for his leadership in preventing insurgents from planting improvised explosive devices on an Iraqi road in 2004.
South of Baghdad on a moonless night, Adams was on a four-vehicle patrol when he was ordered to check on a civilian vehicle parked on the side of the road with an individual crouching near the rear. With his M9 pistol drawn, Adams approached the vehicle.
'Do not move,' he ordered the man. Then, two men popped up behind the vehicle and began firing toward Adams.
The soldier backed toward his Humvee for cover, firing from his pistol the whole time. He killed the man who had been crouching by the vehicle, while the other two men fled in the dark to a nearby field.
Adams approached the men's vehicle and discovered they were planting roadside bombs.
The soldier said he wasn't scared, even though he was being fired on.
'Like most situations over there, it doesn't hit you until afterward,' he said. 'Afterward, I was thinking 'Oh my God, did I really do that?' '
For his action figure, he had to stand in the firing position for about 30 minutes as photographers snapped about 500 photos, he said.
And being a real-life action hero has made his 6-year-old daughter, Emma, very popular back at her Indiana school, said Adams' wife, Jodi.
'She's the coolest kid in school,' Jodi Adams said of Emma, the oldest of the couple's two daughters. Their other daughter, Mika, is 4 years old. 'Her dad is on an action figure, which is pretty impressive to the kids.'
Adams' mother and stepfather, Beth and Rick Whitecotton, live in Gulf Breeze.
At Saturday's party, even grown-ups were approaching Adams for the action figures, though some were getting them to motivate their own children and grandchildren.
'I just wanted to meet him,' said Sandi Johnson of Pensacola Beach, who had two of the action figures autographed for her young grandsons, ages 4 and 1. 'My husband is an Army veteran, and I just thought this was something my grandsons would enjoy.'

Mattel 2008 Infinite Heroes - Review
Mattel Toy's Infinite Heroes

infinite6_1.jpg

Through the years, I can’t say we’ve ever had a shortage of superhero toys but until DC Direct stepped onto the scene ten years ago, DC Superhero action figures were relatively limited to Batman and Batman related characters.  Mattel Toys and DC Comic Books have recently come to an agreement to open the vault of DC Superheroes to Mattel Toys and thus far they are doing a bang up job.

infinite<bheroes01.jpg src=http://www.comicbookbin.com/artman2/uploads/4/infiniteheroes01.jpg width=275 >

Mattel Toys are continuing the Justice League Unlimited series of action figures through Target stores exclusively.  Mattel Toys are also just getting started with their excellent series of Marvel Legends like action figures designed and sculpted by the popular “Four Horsemen” team for the DC Universe series.  Mattel Toys still continue the many series’ of Batman action figures as well.

Recently announced by Mattel toys will be a brand new series of DC action figures called “Infinite Heroes”. Infinite Heroes’ figures will be released in single packs, three packs and six packs.  This should create quite the impression and significant shelf space in the action figure isle.

infinite3.jpg

This line will be an expansive series of 3 ¾” action figures with standard articulation at the head, shoulders, elbows, legs and knees.  However, the articulation is not consistent as it appears some figures will have more pose ability than others.  The line sounds like a dream come true for me as I am a confessed collector of 3 ¾” action figures.

Mezco June 2008 Auctioning 'Heroes' prototype figures for charity
Mezco Toyz, premier toy and collectible manufacturer, is lending a helping hand to those who are less fortunate; bulldogs. In February 2008, Mezco Toyz, the makers of the new Heroes action figures, sent a set of unpainted prototype test shot figures to the legendary 30 Rock (30 Rockefeller center) in NY to be displayed at NBC's headquarters as part of the NBC tour. {NOTE: If your publication covered the February 7, 2008 event you may want to include a link to your coverage here.} Literally thousands of tourists have posed beside the figures for pictures and many of the cast of Heroes themselves saw and played with the figures during a recent visit to the site. These are the actual figures from the display and the actual figures featured in the recent article in Heroes Magazine. The original plan was to auction the figures for charity in April, but because of the overwhelming popularity of the display, the figures remained at NBC until the end of May 2008. Now, Mezco Toyz has donated the set of 5 figures to Heaven Sent Bulldog Rescue so they can be auction to raise funds for abused and/or homeless Bulldogs. 100% of the money raised will be donated to the charity and the transaction will be handled by Mission Fish. src=http://www.comicbookresources.com/assets/images/articles/1213125530.jpg When asked what prompted their decision to help bulldogs, Mezco's Director Of Special Projects replied, 'Mezco has a long love affair with bulldogs. A full 37% of Mezco's New York staff own bulldogs and Mez himself, the President of Mezco, has shared his life with several bulldogs. When Mezco learned about the cruelty many of these poor creatures have suffered, and the wondrous things Heaven Sent Bulldog Rescue has done to help them, it was clear that they deserved to benefit from this auction'. The auction begins on June 4th, 2008 and runs for 10 days. The e-Bay item # is 180250494487

Hasbro Dec 2007 Transformers Wave 2 2008 Real Gear

Check out these awesome images of Wave 2 Real Gear for 2008. Figures include FARSIGHT T-20 (binoculars), MIDNIGHTER XR-4 (watch) and TWITCHER F451 (game controller). Look for these characters in February-March of 2008.

FARSIGHT T-20 is a scientist and analyst who is used to examining both sides of any problem with which he is presented. His keen intelligence and highly logical mind can break down any issue to its most important few points and reach a conclusion within a few moments. He joined the AUTOBOTS not because of an ethical compulsion, but because his analysis put them squarely in the right. Many DECEPTICON strategists have tried to out think FARSIGHT T-20, but all have failed.

Paranoid and frantic, MIDNIGHTER XR-4 is terrified of being late or missing a scheduled deadline. The problem is that, because he's so preoccupied worrying about it, he never actually manages to be on time for anything. When he sets a bomb to go off, you can bet it will detonate fifteen minutes late. If he's planning an attack at dawn, chances are nothing will happen until after breakfast. Other DECEPTICONS hate working with him, because no mission goes off well with him in charge.

TWITCHER F451 is a psychological profiler, specializing in anything that makes the AUTOBOTS uncomfortable, angry, or afraid. With only a few minutes of observation, he can draw highly specific conclusions about almost any target's greatest mental weaknesses, and come up with a way to exploit them. He takes a great deal of pleasure in making other robots uncomfortable, so even other DECEPTICONS tend to avoid him.

Dec 2007 Evel Knievel, 1938-2007 First Real Person To Be The Subject Of A Successful Action Figure And Toy Line.

But in my earliest memory of Evel Knievel, he was naked and in the microwave. 'I was the first real person to be the subject of a successful action figure and toy line,' Evel once bragged in an interview, and he was correct. But he was also 'Evel Knievel Action Figure Microwave Pie.' The recipe: Take one semifresh Evel Knievel poseable action figure that you got for Christmas but don't want anymore. Shuck the Old Glory–flavored Velcro jumpsuit from the little pink plastic body, and check between the legs in vain for anatomical correctness (rats!). Remove the tiny white gloves (so dandy!) and the star-spangled helmet. Toss them. Force the doll's limbs into sexually suggestive positions and wonder if he's spinning in his grave yet. Then chuck the thing into the microwave on HIGH until something horrible happens, and behold the magic. It's a dish you make once in a lifetime.
In the end, it's the melted plastic we remember. And the little leather cape.
But the Evel Knievel 'story' is as striped as his jumpsuit, and twice as snazzy. He began his celebrated life of fame and fortune by dropping out of high school. This was indeed the exact same high school that I would have dropped out of, had I dropped out, and that both of my parents before me would have dropped out of, had they dropped out, and most of my grandparents before them. (Tragically, we all graduated.) My mother remembers Evel as something of a stud in her school days, athletic, easy to look at, crazy, not expected to survive. My father was taking a nap.

Hasbro dec 2007 G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero Celebrates 25 Years
G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero started with a small assortment of basic action figures and vehicles back in 1982. Twenty-fives years later, it's one of the most influential toy lines of all time. In fact, I ranked the line number one in my Top Action Figures of the 1980's List.
If you love G.I.Joe, then you'll love the twenty-fifth anniversary line that Hasbro has released this year. It takes some of G.I.Joe figures and updates them for the twenty-first century while remaining true to the original vision by basing the design of both the figures and the card art exactly on the originals.
I've created my largest image gallery yet to show just how excited Hasbro is about their G.I.Joe line. I've also created it to help you shop this holiday season for the action figure collector in your life. These figures are extremely hard to find at retail, far exceeding Hasbro's expectations of the line. Hasbro has promised that more figures will hit shelves in the coming weeks, but for now, keep your eyes open for figures from the first three series, and be aware of hard to find and desirable variations!

History In Action Toys (HIA Toys) Dec 2007 Tells Stories of Unknown African-American Heroes

Toy Maker Tells Stories of Unknown African-American Heroes Through a Unique and Safe Line of Action Figures
History In Action Toys Works to Fill the Gap and Inspire Children to Dream Big and Learn from American History

Left to Right: Astronomer Benjamin Banneker; aviator
Bessie Coleman and explorer Matthew Henson

HIA Toys Founder Sterling Ashby

Washington, DC (BlackNews.com) - For the holiday season, History In Action Toys (HIA Toys) is offering a series of limited-edition action figures based on three lesser-known American heroes -- the daring female aviator Bessie Coleman, the self-taught mathematician and astronomer Benjamin Banneker and Matthew Henson, the resourceful explorer. Available for purchase at www.hiatoys.com, this introductory line of safe toys was strategically selected to teach African-American children and others about the diversity in American history and to allow their pride in their background to inspire them to dream big.
HIA Toys Founder Sterling Ashby was inspired to start HIA Toys in 2004 after spending hours in various stores for a Christmas present for a friend's child. When it took Ashby several hours to find one educational toy he felt worthy of purchasing for the child, he knew this issue needed to be resolved and his entrepreneurial spirit could be used to benefit an entire community.

Truer words have never been spoken. Enjoy the gallery folks!

TOUMA and Play Imaginative Dec 2007 Whipping Grabbit...Whip It Real Good

Grabbitwhipping_version
The latest joint project between TOUMA and Play Imaginative is set for a December 2007 release.  The Grabbit Whipping Edition is the latest vinyl release from the popular Japanese artist.   Why's it called Whipping?   Well, I thought it might have some spring loaded whipping action...or whipped cream...or those little greyhound looking dogs...but apparently Whipping is a special finishing that creates a rusty, weathered effect on the Grabbit.
There will only be 300 pieces available and each comes packaged with a Certificate of Authenticity and a limited edition print.  Another 150 pieces will feature the Whipping Grabbit with a snarling mouth, and these will be exclusive to Karmaloop.

Jazwares Inc. Nov 2007 Real Heroes - America's Army Action Figures Leap Into ... Action - Escapist Magazine

image
The figures are manufactured and distributed by Jazwares Inc. and available at Toys 'R' Us stores across the country. Developed in close conjunction with the U.S. Army to ensure authenticity, the figures come with a Real Heroes trading card highlighting their heroic accomplishments and Warrior Ethos, as well as authentic uniforms, weapons, insignias and awards. The program is designed to give people a look at the accomplishments of American soldiers who have demonstrated bravery and valor in action. The initial launch will include four Real Hero soldiers: Sergeant Tommy Riemen of the 51st Long Range Surveillance Infantry, Sergeant First Class Gerald Wolford of the 82nd Airborne, Staff Sergeant Matthew Zedwick of the 2-162 Infantry and Major Jason Amerine of the 5th Special Forces Group. First launched in 2002 as a free recruitment tool, America's Army quickly became an immensely popular online multiplayer FPS, spawning numerous expansions and releases on other platforms. As of August, the game is reported to have over 8.6 million registered accounts. More information about the game and the America's Army Real Heroes program is available at www.americasarmy.com.

Japan Oct 2007 Tokyo Real Estate

Tokyo <b>Real</b> Estate

Taken outside an estate agent in Ikebukuro. It says 'Foreigners Welcome!'
So why on earth do they need to state that foreigners are welcome?

I know many gaijin (the Japanese word for 'foreigner') who can tell a tale or two about the fun and games they have had looking for an apartment.
When I first arrived in Japan looking for a place to stay, I would be shown around to a few places during a day. After I made a decision on a place, the estate agent would then call the landlord (in front of me) and ask whether they would let a gaijin stay in the apartment. I was rejected a few times just because I was a gaijin. The feeling is absolutely depressing.

After a few years of moving around, I took on the new tactic of making the estate agent call the landlord *before* we set out to look at the apartment. This was good as we didn't have to waste our time but hearing him talk on the phone saying 'no gaijin? ah, I understand...' was still depressing.

This was one of the reasons why I decided to buy a house. You can read more in that article on how gaijin and pets are treated the same with 'no gaijin or pets' printed on the apartment floor plans and how you need to pay (depending on the rent) fees like 1,540,000 yen up front before you move in.

Apart from this apartment seeking experience which I don't have to go through anymore, I personally don't experience any other forms of racism in Japan - much better than what I expereinced back in London.
Whats racism like in your region?

Mattel Sept 2007 Nebraska man says Mattel stole his ideas for Planet Heroes toys

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The planetary characters and stories that Joseph Ottis and his wife created were supposed to help teach kids about Earth and the environment.
Now those characters are the subject of a federal lawsuit, because Ottis says Mattel stole his copyrighted ideas.
Ottis says he and his wife developed his first character, Globie, in 1997.
Ottis promoted Globie at local events for kids for several years and continued developing the concept. Then in 2000, Ottis' Globie performed at the Earth Day celebration in Washington, D.C., and he sold Globie toys.
After the success of the Earth Day event, Ottis said, he developed additional characters for all the planets in the solar system.

Mezco Sept 2007 Discussing Heroes Figures

We had a chance to sit down with Mezco Toyz's president Mez to talk about their upcoming line of action figures based on the hit NBC television series, Heroes. See what he had to say:
TNI: The initial press release said that you would be doing figures that range in scale from 3” – 18”. Can you tell us how many different scales we can expect to see and what scales will actually be used?
Mez: We are extremely excited about the opportunity to work on Heroes- it's an amazing property. Since we are so stoked, we are going to roll out several scales of product:
+ 7' articulated figures with accessories

+ 3 & 3/4' scale 'screen Grabs' - These are our mini diorama collectible that allow consumers to collect a scene from the show with out having to find a bigger home.
+ Deluxe figures- These are still being worked out, but I can tell you the scale will be bigger & the detail will be amazing.
TNI: Will the figures be sculpted in a stylized look like was used with your Scarface figures, or will they be done in a realistic style?
Mez: All our current planned Heroes product is going to focus on a realistic presentation to best translate the show. If we were to move to a more design driven direction, we would focus on the comic style art that exists.
TNI: What kind of articulation can we expect to see on these figures?
Mez: Some of this is still being worked out. For the 7' figures, it depends on the character but no less then 8 points per figure I believe. The Screen Grabs are not articulated by design. The deluxe figures, I can not answer at this time.
TNI: Will you only be making figures based on characters from season 1, or will you be able to do cast members from season 2 as well?
Mez: We are starting with season 1.

Sept 2007 Transformers - Real Gear Custom with Working Clock

Jin-Saotome is at it again with a new piece you are going to love. This is a 4” tall custom Transformers Real Gear ‘Meantime’ figure that yes, actually works as a fully functioning watch. He has multiple points of articulation, far too many for me to count so I’m not even going to try. This means you can pose Meanie here in all sorts of awesome time-stopping poses and he’ll look great in every one. He transforms just like the store-bought one and changing his form around won’t affect the paint job at all. He comes with instructions because these figures can be like skill-puzzles sometime! Instructions for the watch are also included so you can set it to your timezone.

Fisher-Price Aug 2007 Planet Heroes(TM)
East Aurora, NY--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--August 31, 2007--Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson teamed up today with Fisher-Price(R), the largest infant and preschool toy manufacturer and a subsidiary of Mattel Inc. (NYSE:MAT), at the Miami Science Museum to unveil Fisher-Price’s Planet Heroes(TM), an exciting new action figure line that introduces preschoolers to the planets in the solar system. Just like the Planet Heroes characters, every child can be a hero with teamwork and by recognizing his or her talent and skill. Through The Rock’s Toy Chest program, whose mission is to enrich the lives and self-esteem of children, Fisher-Price will sponsor the construction of The Rock’s Toy Chest along with the donation of toys that will benefit the in-patient children at Miami Children’s Hospital.

“Fisher Price’s belief in the potential of children and in the importance of a positive and supportive environment for them to learn and grow naturally compliments The Rock Foundation’s commitment to creating hope in the lives of children hospitalized for various medical conditions. We both share a passion for bettering the lives of children. I'm thrilled to be partnering with such a committed company,” said Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Planet Heroes are cool new intergalactic super heroes that represent the planets in our solar system. The assortment of chunky, easy-to-hold figures

Planet Heroes are cool new intergalactic super heroes that represent the planets in our solar system. The assortment of chunky, easy-to-hold figures includes Mercury “Zip”(TM), Venus “Dazzle”(TM), Earth “Ace”(TM), Mars “Digger”(TM), Jupiter “Gustus”(TM), Saturn “Rings”(TM), Uranus “Yuri”(TM) and Neptune “Tune”(TM). Last but not least, Pluto “Shiver”(TM), who is working extra hard to pull his weight on the team and overcome his new classification as a “dwarf planet.”

Each figure has a special talent or skill related to the features of his or her home planet. For example, Mercury “Zip”(TM) has speed on his side because Mercury has the fastest orbit. The figures also come with special tools and/or vehicles to help them in their adventures.

Together the Planet Heroes have teamed up to protect the galaxy from the evil Black Hole “Professor of Darkness”(TM) and his minions, while at the same time teaching preschoolers about the solar system and all its wonders. The figures will launch with a special DVD that introduces the characters and launches them into their first mission.

Planet Heroes figures retail for $7.99 - $12.99 each and are appropriate for ages three and up.

Aug 2007 Transformers - Real Gear Booster X10 - Review

Lately, I've been spotting more hard to find items in the TF Universe. While still looking for the rarest of items (is it too hard to ask for some Deluxes?), I came across a nice Real Gear figure that I haven't seen much of. Booster X10 is a Decepticon that specializes in noise scrambling for manipulation and embarrassment..
Booster is guised as a portable MP3 player. Mostly red in color, the control center and outlining are done in black. The buttons have no labeling on them, which would have been a thoughtful detail. The back end is open ended, and you can see some of the robot parts exposed.
Booster also comes with a wireless headphone. Booster X10 is scripted to the earpiece as well as a Decepticon insignia. This is a pretty big headphone with no noticeable way to 'clip' to the ear. Transformation is a snap. The earpiece has a hidden clip that flips down and connects with Booster.
Laserbeak... ahem.... Booster's robot mode is a condor. The earpiece mounts on his back to give him a laser cannon weapon. The red and black motif still exist, and some amber translucent shows up to detail secondary feathers of sorts.
This is a pretty trick little figure. While the alt mode is somewhat undetailed, the robot mode pays a good tribute to a popular cassette soldier from G1. Definitely one to catch.
