We are happy to announce our participation at the Phoenix Comicon, Jan. 26 and 27 at the Mesa Convention Center. Check us out at booth #84, where we will be hosting daily giveaways and showcasing upcoming product.

As a special treat for this year's convention, we will also be hosting a panel featuring our very own toy concept artist, Jin Han. Get a glimpse behind the scenes and see for yourself how our ideas are born and how they become action figures. Be there, Saturday, Jan. 26, from 2pm-2:50pm in the Apache Room.

We also have a special opportunity to win a tour of our Tempe offices and meet the man himself, Todd McFarlane. Five lucky fans will be chosen, and they’ll also score a $20 Borders gift card! To be eligible to win, see our end-cap displays in Phoenix-area Borders Book stores during the month of January, or stop by our booth at the Con for an enter-to-win form. Then simply bring the completed form back to either one of our McFarlane Toys retail locations:

McFarlane Toys Aug 2007 Phoenix Coyotes Feb. 2008 In-Stadium Giveaway

MCFARLANE TOYS, PHOENIX COYOTES FEB. 2008 IN-STADIUM GIVEAWAY
3-inch Bobby Hull Figure Free to 16 Thousand Fans
August 31, 2007
Copyright 2007 TMP International, Inc.

McFarlane Toys and the Phoenix Coyotes are teaming up once again and honoring Bobby Hull with a stadium giveaway figure in February 2008.

The Coyotes' franchise has always embraced their roots in Winnipeg, and one of the greatest players in franchise history is Bobby Hull. On Feb. 19, 2008 the Coyotes will honor Hull with a 3-inch McFarlane Sports Picks figure giveaway, some 19 years after his number-nine jersey was retired. Phoenix will be hosting Chicago that night (another nod to Bobby Hull), and will give away 16 thousand figures to the fans in attendance.

Bobby Hull became a hockey legend with 15 dominant seasons as a Chicago Blackhawk, before venturing out to join the World Hockey Association's Winnipeg Jets. His last season in Winnipeg saw the Jets join the NHL back in 1979. Between the two leagues, Hull scored 913 goals and became a household name. The Jets franchise moved to Phoenix in 1996, and was re-born as the Phoenix Coyotes. Current Coyotes' goaltender Mikael Tellqvist has an image of Bobby Hull on the right side of his mask.

Gentle Giant March 2008 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Thestral Statue
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Thestral Statue
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Thestral Statue Description:
Now Harry has learned what Oingo Boingo's album artists always knew! While quite ghoulish, the deathly Thestral looks like a dead horse with wings, totally graceful and horrifying all at once. If you want to add a touch of creepiness to your home or office, there's no better way than by picking up this massive 12-inch tall statue. The creature's mighty wings measure 14-inches wide, and it stands atop a rocky display base to make sure it's not going to get away. Limited edition.
Thestrals, a type of winged horse, are black and skeletal in appearance, with protruding bones, leathery wings, blank white eyes and a dragonish face. Visible only to those who have seen death, Harry, Neville, Luna and Theodore Nott are known to be able to see them. Thestrals fly extremely fast, have an unerring sense of direction, and understand human speech. All that is required is for the rider to tell them where to go, and they will fly there at an exceptional pace.

PHOENIX CACTUS-CON WRAP-UP
A Good Time for All in the Valley of the Sun
February 02, 2007
Copyright 2007 TMP International, Inc.
Last weekend, McFarlane Toys suited up, hit the road and headed directly for the Convention Center in Mesa, Arizona to spread the good word and show off some extraordinary product for our local Arizona fans.

And it went off without a hitch. The biggest item on display was the Crime Mobile, which was an immediate showstopper. Nothing grabs the eye quite like a 1955 Chevrolet on the floor of a comic convention.

But that was just the appetizer.

We had our famous 2-up prototypes of the upcoming SPAWN Series 31, SIMPSONS MOVIE, DRAGONS Series 5 and MILITARY Series 5 assortments. Fans gawked and asked questions, which always tends to lead toward good conversation.

Another treat came in the form of a 'sneak peek' of two upcoming comic releases: Spawn Issue 164 and The Adventures of Spawn, Director's Cut- both available for fans to thumb through and take a look at what was hitting their favorite comic store shelves on January 31st.

The icing on our convention cake was Al Simmons making a personal appearance on Saturday and signing comics, toys and sketchbooks until his hand turned blue. Fans new and old left our booth with smiles on their faces after meeting the man who inspired SPAWN.

And as always, our giveaways were quite the crowd-pleaser. With our prizes ranging from a complete set of LOST Series 1 figures to signed comics, our booth was packed with eager fans during our daily drawings.

From Friday's PREVIEW night to closing up shop on Sunday evening, everyone involved had a great time and is looking forward to coming back next year.
